How to wear your Martingale correctly

Putting your Martingale collar on your dog correctly is just as important as getting the right size. Martingale’s are specifically designed to help you control your dog, but if fitted incorrectly they may be able to escape the collar and even hurt themselves.

To make sure you’re totally confident fitting your Martingale, we’ve put together a guide on how
to fit your martingale correctly.

Please feel free to ask us any questions!

  • Step 1.

Adjust your Martingale using the slides onto the largest setting.

  • Step 2.

Slide the collar over your dogs head ensuring it can also come back off without getting caught on their ears.

  • Step 3.

Place the collar where it would sit on your dogs neck and adjust to a snug fit.

  • Step 4.

When the control loop is pulled up the main loop should tighten around the dogs neck, but the metal sliders should never touch.

  • Step 5.

If the metal slides touch at any point the collar is too big and could risk injury or escape of the dog

  • Step 6.

When wearing an ID tag with a Martingale, ensure you put it on the slider, not on the D-ring.
